Last week we were in Portland (duh Brianne, you already wrote about your apartment). But guys, I didn't get to tell you about the rest of the trip!
We got to spend a lot of time with my Uncle Art (mom's brother), Aunt Sheri, and cousins Jake, Jackson, and Connor. It was way fun. Most of our time was looking at a bazillion apartments, but we also spent a morning touring Dustin's school. They have a big, brand new, beautiful anatomy lab and a room full of cadavers. Which we got to see. And it was gross. My first cadaver ever!
An afternoon I also got to spend interviewing with Accountemps in Portland. I had applied for a couple of their posted jobs so they pulled me in for an interview, had me do a couple tests to evaluate my knowledge in Accounts Payable (which I scored well in), Accounts Receivable (which I didn't score as well in, even though that's what I've been doing the past 2 years!), and Excel (which I did decently in). Then I met with their manager that places people in permanent jobs instead of just temp or temp-hire jobs. He had me send him my references and said he'd start looking for placements for me. So we'll see how that goes! So far I haven't heard back from them at all. Maybe they hate me. Maybe it's a sign that I should stay home and do daily blog posts about how much I love staying home or adding more recipes to my recipe blog so you can all make the goodness that I make. I don't know. But it was a 2 HOUR process meeting with them between interviewing and evaluations, so *fingers crossed!*
After Accountemps, we went and saw HARRY POTTER at Cinetopia. I got choked up. It's so sad that it's just OVER now. I love my harry potter and can't believe this is the end. I want to go see the movie like 5 more times, but I guess I should just wait until I can buy the movie.
That night we made a midnight doughnut run to Voodoo Doughnuts. Now if you haven't seen or heard of Voodoo Doughnuts from shows like Man vs. Food or Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, you should check out their doughnut menu here. Holy cow. They are CRAZY. But they are way good!
Saturday we started the day with a great breakfast and the relative's and then headed in to downtown Portland to visit Powell's Books. More apartment shopping rounded off the rest of the day and we found our future home (we hope) at our very last place.
The evening ended with a rib dinner and movie with the Gaileys and our trip was over!
The weather was perfect. We had a day of sun, a day of overcast, and a day of rain, all the time being around 70 degrees. Beautiful!!!! I'm definitely looking forward to the climate change. There will be so many new things to do and explore while living out there! We are excited to go back.
