Hey, it could happen!

I started writing this post in January... and now it's February... but not too late for resolutions and goals for the year, right?
I saw that Stephanie Southerland's motto for 2015 is "Hey! It could happen!" and I knew I had to steal it.
That's how I feel about 2015.  There are so many things we are hoping and praying and working on to make happen. I know they can't all happen (we probably can't buy a trip to Hawaii AND a new car AND a house AND a baby), but hey, it could happen.  Especially if Dustin can start making incentives at work with more patients.  And we'll see what we can do to make it happen.  There is a lot of potential for this year.

Here are the Creer resolutions for 2015:
  •  Career: Dustin is loving his job and growing his patient base.  Of course, he could always use more patients.  If we can start making incentives this summer, we will be sitting pretty by the end of the year.  Our goal for him is to have a full schedule by the end of the year.  I'm just hoping to learn to love my job and then quit when Dustin's making the big bucks.  I'm working on trying to happy in this stage of life.  It can be tough sometimes when this job is really not what I want to be doing, but I'm working on it.
  • Family: WE NEED TO GET A BABY STAT.  Seriously, I'm going crazy here.  I'm on the 4th month of clomid and so far it hasn't worked.  No detected ovulation the past three months.  I've also been on the supplements from Dr. Nielsen but I stopped taking the Vitex.  It's also called Chastetree because it KILLS your libido.  Add that to clomid's side effects and there is pretty much no desire to get it on.  With no gettin' it on, there's no baby.  So I stopped it.  We are meeting with a specialist at the Utah Fertility Center on the 20th.  I'm not sure what they'll want to do, but I'm willing to try IUI again and IVF if needed.  I just want to get a party started in my uterus ASAP (as my friend Alice Anne put it). :)
  • Health: We completed a round of Whole30 in January and it was great! I lost 10 pounds, Dustin lost 15 (dang those boys losing weight so easily)! We wanted to transition to an every day lifestyle and it promptly went to crap when the new sushi restaurant opened in Heber and my coworker picked that as her birthday lunch choice.  After that it went downhill over the weekend so we are starting another round of Whole30 today.  We will finish just before we leave for an Anniversary trip to Arizona.  I also want to get us exercising more.  I'd love to join a gym but they are kinda pricey here.  Just Dance will have to cut it until we get a little more moolah.  But maybe my goal should be to get a gym membership.  We're dreaming big here people haha.
  •  Wealth: I'd love to buy a house this year, and a car with 4 wheel drive before next winter.  And SAVE.  I'd also like to get student loans paid down as much as we can.  We'll have to start paying Dustin's loans next month and I'm nervous to know how much those payments will be.  I can't wait for his incentives at work to start!  Our definite goal is to get money saved and a down payment for a house.
  • Spirit: I'd like to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover again.  I've become a slacker in my scripture reading.  I'm loving teaching our Sunday School class with Dustin and I have a goal this year to make it on time to church with our lesson ready and the Relief Society lesson read.
  • Vacation: We didn't make it to Hawaii last year so I have vowed that we will go this year! With us both working and saving, we should be able to do it.  We are excited for a little mini vacation to Arizona in March to visit our friends the Clawsons and spend a night in Vegas on the way back.  We will be staying at The Bellagio with a fountain view room and I'm excited to check that off the bucket list!  While in Vegas we'll also catch a visit with Jeanette and Natalie.
So there you have it, our 2015 goals.  We're hoping to thrive this year and find happiness every day.
Here's to making it happen!

Resolution Check In

Can you believe that it's September already!?! While August felt FOREVER long, I can't believe that we are 2/3 of the way through this year.  It's crazy!

Remember those Resolutions we set at the beginning of the year? Time for a check up!
Let's see how we're doing...

Goal #1: Save Money.
I am happy to say that we are right on track with where we need to be to meet our goal at the end of the year! Also, if things go as planned, my student loan will be paid off next month, meaning it will be paid off in half the time.  I love paying things off in half the time! If only we could say that about Dustin's student loans as well...

Goal #2: Lose 50 lbs.
Ha. Hahaha.   Bahahaha.  In February losing 5 pounds a month was doable. Too bad I didn't really work on it until June.  It's been a slow journey, but we are getting there.  I joined Weight Watchers and I have to say, I love their program.  It's slow.  So very very slow. But I feel like this is a program that I could do for the rest of my life.  You can eat real food.  You can eat whatever you want.  And you can lose weight.  So far I am down 17 pounds.  As long as I can average 2ish pounds a week for the rest of the year, then I can make my goal, but I won't beat myself up if I don't get all the way to 50 pounds.  I'm happy with my progress and with any more to come.

Goal #3: Dustin pass all his classes.
Well, there was one class he had to retake, but just the final at the end of the next quarter.  And he passed it then, so sure, we can say we're good on this one. :)  This quarter has been rough and next quarter will be even worse.  Fingers crossed and minds a studyin' for the rest of the year!

Goal #4: Brianne read a book a quarter.
YES! I have done this goal. So glad I set it! This year I've read Bossypants, The Great Gatsby, and Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief. Currently working on Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters and next quarter will be The Help.  Any other good book recommendations?

Goal #5: Daily Scripture Reading.
Epic Fail.  Recommitting right now. So far, doing great this week.

Goal #6: Make new friends/hang out with current friends.  We're doing ok.  But I think there is room for improvement.

Goal #7: Brianne piece a quilt a quarter, finishing 2 for the year.  Have I posted any quilting pics lately? Maybe I should do a post on that.  First quarter- yellow/gray chevron, second quarter- baseball quilt, third quarter- pink/green 4 patch for Kendra's baby girl due Thanksgiving, should finish it up this week so I can contemplate quilting it myself or hiring it out, and a cuddle strip quilt (2 quilts this quarter!)

Goal #8: Dustin find a new hobby.  How about studying?  That should be his new hobby.  Oh wait, he DOES have a new hobby- feeding the fish.  He loves our fish, Rambo and Chuck Norris.  Fish are his hobby.  Check.

Goal #9: Go on a vacation.
YES! DC was such a great trip and I'm so glad we got to spend time with family! We've had mini vacations here and there too.  It's been a good year for us!

Closing up this quarter and one more to go! My how time flies!

Resolutions

From our Valentine's Weekend date at the Melting Pot.
I know it's February, but someone said sometime that a goal isn't a goal until you write it down.  Well, we wrote down our resolutions but I thought I'd write it down on here so that we could be more accountable for them.  So may I present to you: The Creer Family 2013 Resolutions! aka

Making 2013 Epic!
Fortune cookies never lie.  I guess we need to do some investigating!
  • Save money.  Don't worry, we have a goal amount we want to get to.  But I'm not putting it down here.  Cuz I would feel weird.
  • Lose 50 lbs.  So far we suck at this.  We are both fat.  And could both lose 50 pounds.  We need to get busy on this one but it keeps getting hard to do when we are trying to get pregnant, then got pregnant, then weren't pregnant again.  Too many changes!  Only 10 months left to go! 5 pounds a month is totally doable.
  • Dustin pass all his classes. So far, so good.
  • Brianne read 2 books.  I enjoy reading but NEVER read anymore.  Hooray for Taking a Night Off so I can read a book!  I can't believe that I set such a low goal for how many books to read.  So we're going to change it to read a book each quarter. Sound good?
  • Daily scripture reading.  We are working on this.  Still not great at it.  But working on it.
  • Make new friends/Hang out with our current friends.  We need some good friends.  And some of our friends here will only be here for a little while.  Couples need couples.  How I Met Your Mother was so true about that.
  • Brianne finish 2 quilts.  Again, why such a low number?  I've changed it to piece a quilt a quarter and finish 2 quilts for the year.  That sounds better, right?  I still am loving quilting and feel like I'm getting so much better at it.
  • Dustin find a new hobby.  Still working on this.  But he did start playing church basketball this week.  That's a hobby, right?
  • Go on a vacation.  We have lots of possibilities we've been contemplating.  There's the possibility of Washington DC over the 4th of July, San Francisco and the Redwoods, an Alaskan cruise (that's dreaming big), or of course there's always Utah. Which isn't a real vacation so we need something other than that.  Any other thoughts for us?
And that's all we got!  I feel like we've made decent progress considering it's only the 2nd month!  Despite the craziness, this year will be epic.
