So really the song "let's get physical, physical" reminds me of the Ethics episode of The Office... which is on tonight and I'm really excited for! But this post is about how Dustin and I QUIT Gold's Gym and have never been happier! I get my membership through my work at StoresOnline and Dustin's was paid in full YEARS ago by his parents. Now his is expiring THIS week and we could renew it... or drop it. For me, it's been more stressful saying, "I have to go to the gym 5 TIMES A WEEK OR WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS!" than saying, "hey, I really feel like going to work out right now, that sounds GREAT!" So I've been struggling with my membership for a while. Then we discovered RACQUETBALL, Dustin's new love next to me and baseball of course. Gold's Gym has RACQUETBALL COURTS and if you have a VIP membership, then it's FREE, which is great. Lately when we've been going, they haven't been making us pay the extra $5 to use the racquetball courts, so that's been fantastic. Then we got ornery girl to scan our cards in.... and of course, girls always have to prove themselves and so she ratted us out. Lame. So then of course, they start their sales pitch of "why don't you just upgrade to the VIP membership?" well, duh, cuz all it means is free childcare (which we don't need), free tanning (which we don't want), and Racquetball courts, which would be nice, but there are other options out there. So then we tell them that Dustin's membership is about to expire anyway, maybe we'll get it renewed, crunch some numbers with them, and then crunched our OWN numbers, and well, yes, I GOT A RAISE! Happy day! But do i really want to spend that extra income on RACQUETBALL? No, I'd like to go shopping! or heaven forbid, SAVE SOME MONEY! Though I love my husband dearly and don't want to say, "hey, i have a gym membership, but no more gym for you!" and the truth is, it would be TEN BAZILLION times harder to go by myself without his gym membership....
So after weighing the pros and cons like the responsible adults we are ;) we decided to QUIT the gym... not renew his membership and cancel mine because the good news about working for StoresOnline and getting discounted gym memberships is that you can cancel them without having to pay a fee! So really, we'll be not spending extra money and SAVING extra money so we can splurge now and then and go play at the rec center or whatev. Are we going to stop working out? NO! Have you met my husband?! He's super into sports and athletics. We'll just get to take nice walks in the summer and be a little more creative. I'm really so excited about it! I feel like this huge gold's gym burden has been lifted off of my shoulders! And that REALLY makes me happy! :)

Oh man.. We didn't have the gym membership thing, but we definitely cut out expenses when we were first married and it's been great. Sometimes, money is tight. But considering how bad it could be, we are doing relatively well. Keep up the smart saving!:)
